Two Key Questions Summary

Writing for your audience is top priority in media writing. You are not writing for yourself. All that needs to be taken into consideration regarding how to write for a particular audience boils down to two questions: What happened? Why do I care? Use noun and verb structure to figure out the core of the story, and avoid soft language, jargon and self importance. Simplicity can still meet criteria, and this opens up for discussion. Additionally, to get an audience to care, both the audience and the impact of the message are important to understand. Unless the story matters, it is useless. Look for the cause and effect on readers. The more accessible something is, the more people will like it. Do not be afraid to bring something down to a lower level for the sake of showing more people why they should care about something.
